[Daif]. See hadith 269, for its defect, and it has another defect as well. It has corroborating narrations, all of them daif. Among them is what Ishaq bin Yusuf Azraq narrated from Sufyan Thawri, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, in similar wording. Bayhaqi related it, 4/8,9, via Sulayman bin Ahmad Lakhmi (Tabarani, the author of Al-Mujam and Al-Awsat). Tabarani said, "No one narrated it from Sufyan except Ishaq, with this wording." Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (Mawarid, hadith 1223), as did Hakim, 4/348,349, saying it met the criteria of the two shaykhs, and Dhahabi concurred with him. But Hafiz challenged this in Talkhis, 2/113, noting that Thawri (who died in 162 AH) used "an" without specifying direct hearing, and likewise his own teacher did the same.
