I prayed behind a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the funeral of a daughter of his. He said the takbir over her four times, then paused for a while after the fourth. I heard the people in the rows around me saying "Subhan Allah" to alert him. He then gave the salam and said, "Did you think I was going to make a fifth takbir?"They replied, "We feared that."He said, "I would not do so. Rather, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to make four takbirs, then pause for a moment and say whatever Allah willed him to say, and then give the salam."
