The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the funeral prayer over a man from the Muslims, and Awf heard him say, "O Allah, so-and-so the son of so-and-so is under Your protection and within the bond of Your security, so shield him from the trial of the grave and the punishment of the Fire. You are the One who fulfills promises and upholds truth, so forgive him and have mercy on him, for You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful."
[Hasan] Abu Dawud reported it in Kitab al-Janaiz, chapter on supplication for the deceased, hadith no. 3202, from the hadith of Walid, and he explicitly stated that he had heard it directly, as recorded by Ibn Munzir in al-Awsat (5/441), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih.
