The Prophet ﷺ was shrouded in three white Yemeni garments, with neither a shirt nor a turban among them. It was said to Ayesha, "People claim that he was shrouded in a striped Yemeni cloth."Ayesha replied, "They did bring a striped Yemeni cloak, but they did not use it to shroud him."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
أن النبي ﷺ كفن في ثلاثة أثواب بيض يمانية ليس فيها قميص ولا عمامة فقيل لعائشة إنهم كانوا يزعمون أنه قد كان كفن في حبرة فقالت عائشة قد جاءوا ببرد حبرة فلم يكفنوه
Bukhari narrated it in "Funerals," the chapter on white garments for the shroud, hadith no. 1264, 1271, 1273, and Muslim in "Funerals," the chapter on the shroud of the deceased, hadith no. 941, through various routes from Hisham, both at length and in brief, and the wording of Ibn Majah is the most complete.
