Ibn Umar used to go out to the Eid prayer by one route and return by another, and he stated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do the same.
حدثنا يحيى بن حكيم حدثنا أبو قتيبة حدثنا عبد الله بن عمر عن نافع
أنه كان يخرج إلى العيد في طريق ويرجع في أخرى ويزعم أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يفعل ذلك
[Its chain is hasan]. Abu Dawud transmitted it in the Prayer, in the chapter "Going out to the Eid by one route and returning by another," hadith no. 1156, from the hadith of Abdullah Umari, through this route. Umari's narration from Nafi is strong, Ahmad and others strengthened it. Ibn Main was asked about Umari, what is his standing regarding Nafi? He said, "Sound." (Tarikh Darimi: 523, and others.)
