A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to send us rain."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and said, "O Allah, give us rain that is wholesome, fertile, abundant, swift and not delayed, beneficial and not harmful."They had not yet gathered themselves before they were answered. Then they came to him complaining about the rain, saying, "Messenger of Allah, the houses have collapsed."He said, "O Allah, around us and not upon us."The clouds then began to break apart to the right and to the left.
[Hasan] Ahmad narrated it, 4/235, 236, from Abu Muawiya through him at length, and Busiri graded it sahih. Amash was followed by Shubah as narrated by Ahmad and others. Abu Dawud said in his Sunan, no. 3967, that Salim did not hear from Shurahbil, and Shurahbil died at Siffin, so the chain is daif, but the essence of the hadith is sahih, having many corroborating narrations.
