The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite the qunut in the morning prayer for a month, supplicating against one of the Arab tribes, then he stopped.
حدثنا نصر بن علي الجهضمي حدثنا يزيد بن زريع حدثنا هشام عن قتادة
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يقنت في صلاة الصبح يدعو على حي من أحياء العرب شهرا ثم ترك
Reported by Bukhari, in "The Book of Military Expeditions", chapter "The Expedition of Rajee, Ril, Zakwan, and Bir Mauna, and the Hadith of Adal," etc., no. 4089, and by Muslim, in "The Book of Mosques," chapter "The Recommendation of Qunut in All Prayers When a Calamity Befalls the Muslims," etc., no. 677, under it, from the hadith of Hisham, with similar wording.
