The Prophet [[n9]] said, "Indeed, Allah is One and loves what is odd-numbered. So observe the witr prayer, people of the Quran."An Arabi asked, "What is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying?"He replied, "It is not for you nor for your companions."
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو حفص الأبار عن الأعمش عن عمرو بن مرة عن أبي عبيدة
عن النبي ﷺ قال إن الله وتر يحب الوتر أوتروا يا أهل القرآن فقال أعرابي ما يقول رسول الله ﷺ قال ليس لك ولا لأصحابك
Its chain of transmission is daif. Abu Dawud narrated it in the chapters on Witr, in the chapter on the recommendation of Witr, hadith 1417, from Uthman with this wording. See also hadith 178 regarding its defect.
