Ali bin Abu Talib reported,
The best of people after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is Abu Bakr, and the best of people after Abu Bakr is Umar.

Darussalam
[Sahih]. Abdullah bin Salama's hadith is hasan. His confusion in old age did not harm the reliability of what he narrated from Amr bin Mura, as I established in my commentary on Musnad Humaydi, hadith no. 57. It has multiple routes of transmission in Bukhari and elsewhere, and it is among the mutawatir hadiths.
