Saaib bin Yazid reported,

The one who added the third call to prayer on Friday was Uthman bin Affan , when the people of Medina had grown numerous. The Prophet ﷺ had only one muezzin, and the call to prayer on Friday was made when the imam sat down, meaning upon the pulpit.

أن الذي زاد التأذين الثالث يوم الجمعة عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه حين كثر أهل المدينة ولم يكن للنبي ﷺ مؤذن غير واحد وكان التأذين يوم الجمعة حين يجلس الإمام يعني على المنبر
