Abu Hurairah reported,

He informed them both that the people said, "Messenger of Allah, will we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?"He replied, "Do you have any difficulty seeing the moon on the night of a full moon when there are no clouds before it?"They said, "No, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Do you have any difficulty seeing the sun when there are no clouds before it?"They said, "No."He said, "Then you will see Him just like that. The people will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, and He will say, 'Whoever used to worship something, let him follow it.' So some of them will follow the sun, some will follow the moon, and some will follow the false gods. This nation will remain, with its hypocrites among them. Then Allah will come to them and say, 'I am your Lord.' They will say, 'This is our place, until our Lord comes to us. When our Lord comes, we will recognize Him.' Then Allah will come to them and say, 'I am your Lord.' They will say, 'You are our Lord.' So He will summon them, and the bridge will be set across the middle of Hell. I will be the first of the messengers to cross it with his nation, and no one will speak that day except the messengers, and the speech of the messengers that day will be, 'O Allah, grant safety, grant safety.'In Hell there are hooks like the thorns of the sadan plant. Have you seen the thorns of the sadan plant?"They said, "Yes."He said, "They are like the thorns of the sadan plant, except that no one knows the magnitude of their size but Allah. They will snatch people according to their deeds. Some will be destroyed by their deeds, and some will be cut to pieces and then be saved. When Allah wishes to show mercy to whomever He wills among the people of Hell, He will command the angels to bring out those who used to worship Allah. They will bring them out, recognizing them by the marks of prostration, for Allah has forbidden the Fire from consuming the marks of prostration. They will come out of the Fire, for the Fire consumes every part of the son of Adam except the marks of prostration. They will come out of the Fire burnt to charcoal, and the water of life will be poured upon them, and they will sprout as a seed sprouts in the silt left by a flood.Then Allah will finish judging between His servants, and one man will remain between Paradise and the Fire. He will be the last of the people of the Fire to enter Paradise, his face turned toward the Fire. He will say, 'My Lord, turn my face away from the Fire. Its stench has poisoned me and its blaze has burned me.'Allah will say, 'If that is done for you, will you ask for anything else?'He will say, 'No, by Your might.' And he will give Allah whatever covenants and pledges He wills. So Allah will turn his face away from the Fire.When he turns toward Paradise and sees its splendor, he will fall silent for as long as Allah wills him to be silent. Then he will say, 'My Lord, bring me forward to the gate of Paradise.'Allah will say to him, 'Did you not give your covenants and pledges that you would not ask for anything other than what you had asked for?'He will say, 'My Lord, do not make me the most wretched of Your creation.'Allah will say, 'If that is granted to you, will you not ask for anything else?'He will say, 'No, by Your might, I will not ask for anything else.' And he will give his Lord whatever covenants and pledges He wills. So He will bring him forward to the gate of Paradise.When he reaches its gate and sees its blossoms and the freshness and joy within it, he will fall silent for as long as Allah wills him to be silent. Then he will say, 'My Lord, admit me into Paradise.'Allah will say, 'Woe to you, son of Adam, how treacherous you are. Did you not give your covenants and pledges that you would not ask for anything other than what you had been given?'He will say, 'My Lord, do not make me the most wretched of Your creation.'So Allah will laugh at him and grant him permission to enter Paradise. Then He will say, 'Wish.' So he will wish, until when his wishing ceases, Allah will say, 'Wish for such and such.' Allah will keep reminding him, until when his wishes come to an end, Allah Most High will say, 'That is yours, and the like of it with it.'"Abu Saeed Khudri said to Abu Hurairah, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Allah said, That is yours and ten times the like of it.'"Abu Hurairah said, "I only memorized from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ his words, 'That is yours, and the like of it with it.'"Abu Saeed said, "I heard him say, 'That is yours and ten times the like of it.'"

حدثنا أبو اليمان قال أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري قال أخبرني سعيد بن المسيب وعطاء بن يزيد الليثي أن

أبا هريرة

أخبرهما أن الناس قالوا يا رسول الله هل نرى ربنا يوم القيامة قال هل تمارون في القمر ليلة البدر ليس دونه سحاب قالوا لا يا رسول الله قال فهل تمارون في الشمس ليس دونها سحاب قالوا لا قال فإنكم ترونه كذلك يحشر الناس يوم القيامة فيقول من كان يعبد شيئا فليتبع فمنهم من يتبع الشمس ومنهم من يتبع القمر ومنهم من يتبع الطواغيت وتبقى هذه الأمة فيها منافقوها فيأتيهم الله فيقول أنا ربكم فيقولون هذا مكاننا حتى يأتينا ربنا فإذا جاء ربنا عرفناه فيأتيهم الله فيقول أنا ربكم فيقولون أنت ربنا فيدعوهم فيضرب الصراط بين ظهراني جهنم فأكون أول من يجوز من الرسل بأمته ولا يتكلم يومئذ أحد إلا الرسل وكلام الرسل يومئذ اللهم سلم سلم وفي جهنم كلاليب مثل شوك السعدان هل رأيتم شوك السعدان قالوا نعم قال فإنها مثل شوك السعدان غير أنه لا يعلم قدر عظمها إلا الله تخطف الناس بأعمالهم فمنهم من يوبق بعمله ومنهم من يخردل ثم ينجو حتى إذا أراد الله رحمة من أراد من أهل النار أمر الله الملائكة أن يخرجوا من كان يعبد الله فيخرجونهم ويعرفونهم بآثار السجود وحرم الله على النار أن تأكل أثر السجود فيخرجون من النار فكل ابن آدم تأكله النار إلا أثر السجود فيخرجون من النار قد امتحشوا فيصب عليهم ماء الحياة فينبتون كما تنبت الحبة في حميل السيل ثم يفرغ الله من القضاء بين العباد ويبقى رجل بين الجنة والنار وهو آخر أهل النار دخولا الجنة مقبل بوجهه قبل النار فيقول يا رب اصرف وجهي عن النار قد قشبني ريحها وأحرقني ذكاؤها فيقول هل عسيت إن فعل ذلك بك أن تسأل غير ذلك فيقول لا وعزتك فيعطي الله ما يشاء من عهد وميثاق فيصرف الله وجهه عن النار فإذا أقبل به على الجنة رأى بهجتها سكت ما شاء الله أن يسكت ثم قال يا رب قدمني عند باب الجنة فيقول الله له أليس قد أعطيت العهود والميثاق أن لا تسأل غير الذي كنت سألت فيقول يا رب لا أكون أشقى خلقك فيقول فما عسيت إن أعطيت ذلك أن لا تسأل غيره فيقول لا وعزتك لا أسأل غير ذلك فيعطي ربه ما شاء من عهد وميثاق فيقدمه إلى باب الجنة فإذا بلغ بابها فرأى زهرتها وما فيها من النضرة والسرور فيسكت ما شاء الله أن يسكت فيقول يا رب أدخلني الجنة فيقول الله ويحك يا ابن آدم ما أغدرك أليس قد أعطيت العهود والميثاق أن لا تسأل غير الذي أعطيت فيقول يا رب لا تجعلني أشقى خلقك فيضحك الله عز وجل منه ثم يأذن له في دخول الجنة فيقول تمن فيتمنى حتى إذا انقطع أمنيته قال الله عز وجل من كذا وكذا أقبل يذكره ربه حتى إذا انتهت به الأماني قال الله تعالى لك ذلك ومثله معه قال أبو سعيد الخدري لأبي هريرة رضي الله عنهما إن رسول الله ﷺ قال قال الله لك ذلك وعشرة أمثاله قال أبو هريرة لم أحفظ من رسول الله ﷺ إلا قوله لك ذلك ومثله معه قال أبو سعيد إني سمعته يقول ذلك لك وعشرة أمثاله
