Malik bin Huwayrith used to show us how the Prophet ﷺ performed his prayer, and this was outside the time of an obligatory prayer. He stood up and remained standing for a while, then bowed and held the bowing position, then raised his head and stayed upright for a moment.He said, "He prayed for us in the manner of this elder of ours, Abu Burayd." Abu Burayd, when he raised his head from the final prostration, would sit upright and then rise.
