The Prophet ﷺ used to recite the Opening of the Book along with another surah in the first two units of the noon and afternoon prayers. At times he would let us hear a verse, and he would prolong the first unit.
حدثنا محمد بن يوسف حدثنا الأوزاعي حدثني يحيى بن أبي كثير حدثني
أن النبي ﷺ كان يقرأ بأم الكتاب وسورة معها في الركعتين الأوليين من صلاة الظهر وصلاة العصر ويسمعنا الآية أحيانا وكان يطيل في الركعة الأولى
