The Prophet ﷺ used to recite in the first two units of the noon prayer the Opening of the Book and two surahs, and in the last two units the Opening of the Book. He would let us hear a verse occasionally. He would lengthen the first unit more than the second, and likewise in the afternoon prayer, and likewise in the dawn prayer.
حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل قال حدثنا همام عن يحيى
أن النبي ﷺ كان يقرأ في الظهر في الأوليين بأم الكتاب وسورتين وفي الركعتين الأخريين بأم الكتاب ويسمعنا الآية ويطول في الركعة الأولى ما لا يطول في الركعة الثانية وهكذا في العصر وهكذا في الصبح
