Safwan bin Mihraz reported,

A man asked Ibn Umar, "How did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ speak about the private conversation between Allah and the believer on the Day of Judgment?"Ibn Umar replied, "One of you will be brought close to his Lord until He places His shelter over him. Then He will say, 'Did you do such and such?' He will answer, 'Yes.' Then He will say, 'Did you do such and such?' He will answer, 'Yes.' So He will make him acknowledge his sins, then He will say, 'I concealed them for you in the world, and today I forgive them for you.'"Adam said, Shayban narrated to us, Qatada narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, from Ibn Umar, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ."

أن رجلا سأل ابن عمر كيف سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول في النجوى قال يدنو أحدكم من ربه حتى يضع كنفه عليه فيقول أعملت كذا وكذا فيقول نعم ويقول عملت كذا وكذا فيقول نعم فيقرره ثم يقول إني سترت عليك في الدنيا وأنا أغفرها لك اليوم وقال آدم حدثنا شيبان حدثنا قتادة حدثنا صفوان عن ابن عمر سمعت النبي ﷺ
