Adi bin Hatim reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is none among you but his Lord will speak to him, with no interpreter between them. He will look to his right and see nothing but the deeds he has sent forward. He will look to his left and see nothing but the deeds he has sent forward. He will look in front of him and see nothing but the Fire facing him. So protect yourselves from the Fire, even with half a date."Amash said, Amr bin Mura also narrated to me a similar report from Khaythama, and he added in it, "even with a kind word."

حدثنا علي بن حجر أخبرنا عيسى بن يونس عن الأعمش عن خيثمة

عن عدي بن حاتم قال

قال رسول الله ﷺ ما منكم أحد إلا سيكلمه ربه ليس بينه وبينه ترجمان فينظر أيمن منه فلا يرى إلا ما قدم من عمله وينظر أشأم منه فلا يرى إلا ما قدم وينظر بين يديه فلا يرى إلا النار تلقاء وجهه فاتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة قال الأعمش وحدثني عمرو بن مرة عن خيثمة مثله وزاد فيه ولو بكلمة طيبة
