Uwaymir al-Ajlani came to Asim bin Adi and said, "Tell me, if a man finds another man with his wife and kills him, would you kill him in retaliation? Ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for me, Asim."So Asim asked him, but the Prophet ﷺ disliked such questions and disapproved of them. Asim returned and informed Uwaymir that the Prophet ﷺ had disliked the questions.Uwaymir said, "By Allah, I will go to the Prophet ﷺ myself."He came, and Allah Most High had already revealed Quran concerning the matter after Asim had left. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Allah has revealed Quran about you and your wife." He summoned the two of them, and they came forward and performed the mutual imprecation.Then Uwaymir said, "Messenger of Allah, I would have lied against her if I kept her." So he divorced her, though the Prophet ﷺ had not ordered him to divorce her. Thus the practice was established regarding the Mutalaineen.The Prophet ﷺ said, "Watch her. If she gives birth to a red, short child resembling a wahrah lizard, then I do not think he was anything but a liar. But if she gives birth to a dark-eyed child with large buttocks, then I can only suppose that he told the truth about her."She gave birth to the child bearing the disliked features.
حدثنا آدم حدثنا محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ذئب حدثنا الزهري
جاء عويمر العجلاني إلى عاصم بن عدي فقال أرأيت رجلا وجد مع امرأته رجلا فيقتله أتقتلونه به سل لي يا عاصم رسول الله ﷺ فسأله فكره النبي ﷺ المسائل وعابها فرجع عاصم فأخبره أن النبي ﷺ كره المسائل فقال عويمر والله لآتين النبي ﷺ فجاء وقد أنزل الله تعالى القرآن خلف عاصم فقال له قد أنزل الله فيكم قرآنا فدعا بهما فتقدما فتلاعنا ثم قال عويمر كذبت عليها يا رسول الله إن أمسكتها ففارقها ولم يأمره النبي ﷺ بفراقها فجرت السنة في المتلاعنين وقال النبي ﷺ انظروها فإن جاءت به أحمر قصيرا مثل وحرة فلا أراه إلا قد كذب وإن جاءت به أسحم أعين ذا أليتين فلا أحسب إلا قد صدق عليها فجاءت به على الأمر المكروه
