The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us while we were sitting in a gathering, "Pledge allegiance to me that you will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, will not commit adultery, will not kill your children, will not bring forth slander that you fabricate between your hands and feet, and will not disobey in what is right. Whoever among you fulfills this, his reward is with Allah. Whoever commits any of these offenses and is punished for it in this world, that punishment serves as expiation for him. And whoever commits any of these offenses and Allah conceals it, his affair is left to Allah. If He wills, He will punish him, and if He wills, He will pardon him."So we pledged allegiance to him on those terms.
حدثنا أبو اليمان أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري ح وقال الليث حدثني يونس عن ابن شهاب أخبرني أبو إدريس الخولاني أنه سمع
قال لنا رسول الله ﷺ ونحن في مجلس تبايعوني على أن لا تشركوا بالله شيئا ولا تسرقوا ولا تزنوا ولا تقتلوا أولادكم ولا تأتوا ببهتان تفترونه بين أيديكم وأرجلكم ولا تعصوا في معروف فمن وفى منكم فأجره على الله ومن أصاب من ذلك شيئا فعوقب في الدنيا فهو كفارة له ومن أصاب من ذلك شيئا فستره الله فأمره إلى الله إن شاء عاقبه وإن شاء عفا عنه فبايعناه على ذلك
