I was present with Ibn Umar when the people had united in allegiance to Abdul-Malik. He said, "Write that I acknowledge hearing and obeying Abdullah Abdul-Malik, Commander of the Faithful, in accordance with the way of Allah and the way of His Messenger to the best of my ability, and that my sons have likewise acknowledged the same."

شهدت ابن عمر حيث اجتمع الناس على عبد الملك قال كتب إني أقر بالسمع والطاعة لعبد الله عبد الملك أمير المؤمنين على سنة الله وسنة رسوله ما استطعت وإن بني قد أقروا بمثل ذلك
