I never prayed behind any imam whose prayer was lighter or more complete than that of the Prophet ﷺ. If he heard a child crying, he would shorten the prayer out of concern that the child's mother might be distressed.

ما صليت وراء إمام قط أخف صلاة ولا أتم من النبي ﷺ وإن كان ليسمع بكاء الصبي فيخفف مخافة أن تفتن أمه
