An Arabi came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with disheveled hair and said, "Messenger of Allah, tell me what prayers Allah has made obligatory upon me."He replied, "The five daily prayers, unless you wish to offer something voluntarily."The man said, "Tell me what fasting Allah has made obligatory upon me."He replied, "The month of Ramadan, unless you wish to fast something voluntarily."The man said, "Tell me what zakat Allah has made obligatory upon me."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then informed him of the laws of Islam.The man said, "By the One who has honored you, I will not do anything voluntarily, nor will I fall short of what Allah has made obligatory upon me in the slightest."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He has succeeded if he is truthful," or, "He will enter Paradise if he is truthful."Some people have said that for one hundred and twenty camels, two hiqqas are due, but if the owner deliberately destroys them, gives them away as a gift, or devises a scheme to evade the zakat, then nothing is due upon him.
حدثنا قتيبة حدثنا إسماعيل بن جعفر عن أبي سهيل عن أبيه
أن أعرابيا جاء إلى رسول الله ﷺ ثائر الرأس فقال يا رسول الله أخبرني ماذا فرض الله علي من الصلاة فقال الصلوات الخمس إلا أن تطوع شيئا فقال أخبرني بما فرض الله علي من الصيام قال شهر رمضان إلا أن تطوع شيئا قال أخبرني بما فرض الله علي من الزكاة قال فأخبره رسول الله ﷺ شرائع الإسلام قال والذي أكرمك لا أتطوع شيئا ولا أنقص مما فرض الله علي شيئا فقال رسول الله ﷺ أفلح إن صدق أو دخل الجنة إن صدق وقال بعض الناس في عشرين ومائة بعير حقتان فإن أهلكها متعمدا أو وهبها أو احتال فيها فرارا من الزكاة فلا شيء عليه
