It is as if I can see the Prophet ﷺ recounting the story of one of the prophets whose people struck him until he bled. He was wiping the blood from his face while saying, "My Lord, forgive my people, for they do not know."
باب حدثنا عمر بن حفص حدثنا أبي حدثنا الأعمش قال حدثني شقيق قال قال
كأني أنظر إلى النبي ﷺ يحكي نبيا من الأنبياء ضربه قومه فأدموه فهو يمسح الدم عن وجهه ويقول رب اغفر لقومي فإنهم لا يعلمون
