Zahdam Jarmi reported,

We were with Abu Musa, and there was a bond of brotherhood and kindness between us and this clan of Jarm. Food was brought, and chicken was served with the meal. Among the people was a man from Bani Taym Allah who was reddish in complexion, looking like a freed slave. He did not come close to the food.Abu Musa said to him, "Come closer, for I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eating from it."The man replied, "I once saw it eating something I found filthy, so I swore I would never eat it."Abu Musa said, "Come closer, and I will tell you about that. We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a group from the Asharis, asking him to provide us with mounts. He was distributing camels from the camels of zakat."Ayub said, "I think he said, and he was angry."He said, "By Allah, I will not provide you with mounts, and I have nothing to mount you on."So we left. Then some captured camels were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and it was asked, "Where are those Asharis?"We came, and he ordered that we be given five camels with white humps. We set off, and I said to my companions, "We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asking him for mounts, and he swore he would not provide us with any. Then he sent for us and gave us mounts. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forgotten his oath. By Allah, if we let the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forget his oath, we will never succeed. Let us go back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and remind him of his oath."So we returned and said, "Messenger of Allah, we came to you asking for mounts, and you swore you would not provide us with any. Then you provided us with mounts. We thought," or "we realized, that you had forgotten your oath."He said, "Go on, for it is Allah who has provided you with mounts. By Allah, if Allah wills, I do not swear an oath and then see something better than it without doing what is better and absolving myself of the oath."Hammad bin Zayd corroborated this from Ayub, from Abu Qilaba and Qasim bin Asim al-Kulaybi.Qutayba narrated to us, Abdul-Wahhab narrated to us, from Ayub, from Abu Qilaba and Qasim al-Tamimi, from Zahdam, with this same report.Abu Muamar narrated to us, Abdul-Warith narrated to us, Ayub narrated to us, from Qasim, from Zahdam, with this same report.
