I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a group of the Ashari clan and found him angry. We asked him to provide us with mounts, but he swore that he would not give us any. Then he said, "By Allah, if Allah wills, I shall never swear an oath and then see something better than it without doing what is better and absolving myself of the oath."

أتيت رسول الله ﷺ في نفر من الأشعريين فوافقته وهو غضبان فاستحملناه فحلف أن لا يحملنا ثم قال والله إن شاء الله لا أحلف على يمين فأرى غيرها خيرا منها إلا أتيت الذي هو خير وتحللتها
