The Prophet ﷺ said, "Adam and Musa argued with one another. Musa said to him, 'Adam, you are our father. You disappointed us and caused us to be expelled from Paradise.'Adam replied, 'Musa, Allah chose you to speak with Him directly and wrote the Tablets for you with His own hand. Do you blame me for a matter that Allah decreed upon me forty years before He created me?'So Adam prevailed over Musa in the argument, Adam prevailed over Musa," repeating it three times.Sufyan said, Abu Zinad narrated to us from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ, something similar.
حدثنا علي بن عبد الله حدثنا سفيان قال حفظناه من عمرو عن طاوس سمعت
عن النبي ﷺ قال احتج آدم وموسى فقال له موسى يا آدم أنت أبونا خيبتنا وأخرجتنا من الجنة قال له آدم يا موسى اصطفاك الله بكلامه وخط لك بيده أتلومني على أمر قدره الله علي قبل أن يخلقني بأربعين سنة فحج آدم موسى فحج آدم موسى ثلاثا قال سفيان حدثنا أبو الزناد عن الأعرج عن أبي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ مثله
