The Prophet ﷺ sent out a military expedition of men known as the Reciters, and they were killed. I never saw the Prophet ﷺ grieve over anything as deeply as he grieved over them. He recited the qunut for an entire month during the dawn prayer, saying, "The tribe of Usayyah has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger."
حدثنا الحسن بن الربيع حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن عاصم
بعث النبي ﷺ سرية يقال لهم القراء فأصيبوا فما رأيت النبي ﷺ وجد على شيء ما وجد عليهم فقنت شهرا في صلاة الفجر ويقول إن عصية عصوا الله ورسوله
