Ayesha reported,

Two old women from among the elderly Jewish women of Madinah came in to see me and said to me, "The people of the graves are punished in their graves." I disbelieved them and was not inclined to accept what they said, so they left. Then the Prophet ﷺ came in to see me, and I said to him, "Messenger of Allah, two old women..." and I told him what they had said.He replied, "They spoke the truth. They are indeed punished with a punishment that all the animals can hear."After that, I never saw him perform a prayer without seeking refuge from the punishment of the grave.
