The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had approved of him, having seen Saad bin Abu Waqqas perform the witr prayer with a single rakah.
حدثنا أبو اليمان أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري قال
وكان رسول الله ﷺ قد مسح عنه أنه رأى سعد بن أبي وقاص يوتر بركعة
