Abdullah bin Masud narrated two hadiths to us, one from the Prophet ﷺ and the other from himself. He said, "The believer sees his sins as though he were sitting beneath a mountain, fearing it might fall upon him, while the wicked person sees his sins like a fly that passes over his nose," and he gestured with his hand like this. Abu Shihab demonstrated by waving his hand above his nose.Then he said, "Allah rejoices more at the repentance of His servant than a man who stops to rest in a desolate, perilous place with his mount carrying his food and drink. He lays down his head and dozes off, then wakes to find his mount gone. When the heat and thirst become severe upon him, or whatever Allah willed, he says, 'I will return to my spot.' So he returns and sleeps for a while, then raises his head, and there is his mount right beside him."Abu Awana and Jareer corroborated this from Amash. Abu Usama said, Amash narrated to us, Umara narrated to us, I heard Harith. Shuba said, Abu Muslim, whose name is Ubaydullah, a Kufan, was the guide of Amash, from Amash, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from Harith bin Suwayd. Abu Muawiya said, Amash narrated to us from Umara, from Aswad, from Abdullah, and from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from Harith bin Suwayd, from Abdullah.
حدثنا أحمد بن يونس حدثنا أبو شهاب عن الأعمش عن عمارة بن عمير
حدثنا عبد الله بن مسعود حديثين أحدهما عن النبي ﷺ والآخر عن نفسه قال إن المؤمن يرى ذنوبه كأنه قاعد تحت جبل يخاف أن يقع عليه وإن الفاجر يرى ذنوبه كذباب مر على أنفه فقال به هكذا قال أبو شهاب بيده فوق أنفه ثم قال لله أفرح بتوبة عبده من رجل نزل منزلا وبه مهلكة ومعه راحلته عليها طعامه وشرابه فوضع رأسه فنام نومة فاستيقظ وقد ذهبت راحلته حتى إذا اشتد عليه الحر والعطش أو ما شاء الله قال أرجع إلى مكاني فرجع فنام نومة ثم رفع رأسه فإذا راحلته عنده تابعه أبو عوانة وجرير عن الأعمش وقال أبو أسامة حدثنا الأعمش حدثنا عمارة سمعت الحارث وقال شعبة وأبو مسلم اسمه عبيد الله كوفي قائد الأعمش عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم التيمي عن الحارث بن سويد وقال أبو معاوية حدثنا الأعمش عن عمارة عن الأسود عن عبد الله وعن إبراهيم التيمي عن الحارث بن سويد عن عبد الله
