Abu Bakr brought home a guest, or guests, and stayed late at the Prophet's ﷺ place. When he came home, my mother said to him, "You kept yourself away from your guest," or, "from your guests, tonight."He asked, "Have you not given them their dinner?"She replied, "We offered him," or, "them food, but he refused," or, "they refused."Abu Bakr became angry, cursed, swore, and vowed never to eat the food. I hid myself, and he called out, "You little fool!"The woman then swore she would not eat until he did. The guest, or guests, also swore not to eat until he did.Abu Bakr said, "This must be from Satan." He called for the food and ate, and they all ate. They noticed that with every morsel they lifted, more food sprang up beneath it than what they had taken.He said, "Sister of Banu Firas, what is this?"She replied, "By the delight of my eyes, there is now more of it than there was before we began to eat."So they ate, and he sent some of it to the Prophet ﷺ. It was mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ ate from it as well.
حدثني محمد بن المثنى حدثنا ابن أبي عدي عن سليمان عن أبي عثمان قال
جاء أبو بكر بضيف له أو بأضياف له فأمسى عند النبي ﷺ فلما جاء قالت له أمي احتبست عن ضيفك أو عن أضيافك الليلة قال ما عشيتهم فقالت عرضنا عليه أو عليهم فأبوا أو فأبى فغضب أبو بكر فسب وجدع وحلف لا يطعمه فاختبأت أنا فقال يا غنثر فحلفت المرأة لا تطعمه حتى يطعمه فحلف الضيف أو الأضياف أن لا يطعمه أو يطعموه حتى يطعمه فقال أبو بكر كأن هذه من الشيطان فدعا بالطعام فأكل وأكلوا فجعلوا لا يرفعون لقمة إلا ربا من أسفلها أكثر منها فقال يا أخت بني فراس ما هذا فقالت وقرة عيني إنها الآن لأكثر قبل أن نأكل فأكلوا وبعث بها إلى النبي ﷺ فذكر أنه أكل منها
