He traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "The one who works to support the widow and the poor person is like a warrior striving in the cause of Allah, or like the one who fasts by day and stands in prayer by night."Ismail narrated to us, saying, Malik told me, from Thawr bin Zayd Deeli, from Abu al-Ghayth the freedman of Ibn Muti, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ, something similar.
