Sufyan reported that Amash did not trace this report back to the Prophet ﷺ, but Hasan and Fitr traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "The one who maintains family ties is not the one who merely reciprocates. Rather, the one who truly maintains them is the one who restores the bond when his relatives sever it."
