The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah has forbidden you to disobey your mothers, to withhold what you owe, to demand what is not yours, and to bury daughters alive. And He dislikes for you idle gossip, excessive questioning, and the wasting of wealth."
Bukhari narrated from Saad bin Hafs, from Shayban, from Mansur, from Musayab bin Rafi, from Warrad, from Mughira, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, that Allah has forbidden disobedience to mothers, and so on with the rest of the hadith. He said, this is not preserved correctly as coming from Musayab. Rather, Shayban narrated it from Mansur, from Shaybi, from Warrad. This is what Ubaydullah bin Musa, Husayn Marwazi, and others said. Jareer likewise said it was from Mansur, from Shaybi. What Mansur has from Musayab, from Warrad, is a different hadith altogether, one concerning the supplication after the prayer. So it may be that this became confused in the mind of Saad bin Hafs, and Allah knows best.Muslim narrated it through the hadith of Ubaydullah bin Musa, from Shayban, from Mansur, from Shaybi. Those who differed from this were Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Zuray, and Amr bin Ali bin Masada, as found in Nasai, volume 1, page 65, and in the Musnad of Abu Awana, volume 1, page 259. So these are three trustworthy narrators, among whom are two great hadith masters, Musaddad and Amr bin Ali Fallas. Perhaps Imam Muslim, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned it in order to clarify the matter. And Allah knows best.
Al-Hafiz said in the introduction to Fath al-Bari, p. 378, after mentioning Daraqutni's statement, "I say, as for the hadith of Jareer from Mansur, it is as Shaybi said.As for the hadith of Ubaydullah bin Musa from Shayban, there is disagreement about it. Muslim narrated it in his Sahih from his hadith, as Daraqutni said, and likewise Abu Awana narrated it in his Sahih from Abu Umaya from Ubaydullah bin Musa. However, Ismaili narrated it in his Mustakhraj through two routes from Ubaydullah bin Musa from Shayban from Mansur from Musayab, as Bukhari said, from Saad bin Hafs. On this basis, it strengthens the likelihood that Shayban had it from Mansur, from both Shaybi and Musayab together, and Saad bin Hafs should not be charged with error, given that Ishaq bin Yasar Nasibi corroborated him, narrating it from Ubaydullah bin Musa from Shayban. And Allah knows best."
Ibn Musayab, from Warrad, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned that what is found with Mansur, and I say,the statement of Hafiz Daraqutni is like the prayer of supplication, so it is said that it is one hadith, a hadith other than this one, and it is that he used to say at the end of every prayer, before Allah,Ali bin Muslim narrated to us, Hushaym narrated to us. Bukhari extracted it in volume 11, page 306. He said, may Allah have mercy on him, also from Shaybi, from Warrad the scribe of Mughira, more than one person informed us, among them Mughira and so-and-so and a third man, "I heard it from the Messenger of Allah," Mughira said, that I should write to him the hadith of Ibn Shuba, that Muawiya wrote to him after he finished the prayer,to him, Mughira, "I heard him say, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family."He said, so he wrote, "over all things He has power."He said to him, "His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is, there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner," and disobedience to mothers, asking others for wealth, wasting money, and withholding, and he used to forbid gossip and excessive talk.
