The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a ring made of gold and wore it with the stone facing the inside of his palm. The people then had similar rings made for themselves. So he discarded it and had a ring made of silver instead.

أن رسول الله ﷺ اتخذ خاتما من ذهب وجعل فصه مما يلي كفه فاتخذه الناس فرمى به واتخذ خاتما من ورق أو فضة
