Muhammad ﷺ said, "Whoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter."
حدثنا سليمان بن حرب حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن ثابت قال سمعت
محمد ﷺ من لبس الحرير في الدنيا لم يلبسه في الآخرة
Bukhari related this on the authority of Sulayman bin Harb, from Hammad, from Thabit, from Ibn Zubayr, who said, "The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'Whoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the hereafter.'"I say, Ibn Zubayr did not hear this from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, rather he heard it from Umar, as stated by Abu Dhubab and Umm Amr, on his authority.
The Haafiz, may Allah have mercy on him, said in the introduction, p. 378, after mentioning the words of Daraqutni,I say, this is a weak objection, for Ibn Zubayr was a companion. So suppose he transmitted it as a mursal report, what of it? How many mursal reports of companions are found in the Sahih! The scholars have unanimously agreed on accepting such reports, except for a few who came later than them and dissented, and their disagreement carries no weight. And Allah knows best.
