Ayesha reported that Rifa divorced his wife, and she then married Abdul-Rahman bin Zubayr al-Quradhi.Ayesha said, "She came wearing a green veil and complained to me, showing me green marks on her skin. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived, women would support one another."Ayesha said, "I have never seen what believing women endure. Her skin was greener than her garment."When he heard that she had come to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he came along with two sons of his from another wife. She said, "By Allah, I have done no wrong against him, except that what he has is no more useful to me than this," and she took hold of a fringe from her garment. He said, "By Allah, she is lying, Messenger of Allah. I shake her as a piece of leather is shaken. But she is rebellious and wants Rifa back."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If that is the case, you are not lawful for him, or you are not suitable for him, until he tastes your sweetness."The narrator said, He noticed two sons with him and asked, "Are these your sons?"He replied, "Yes."The Messenger of Allah said, "This is what you claim about her? By Allah, they resemble him more than a crow resembles a crow."
Bukhari reported the hadith of Thaqafi, from Ayub, from Ikrima, the story of the mother of Rifa. It mentions Ayesha, but it is mursal. Hammad bin Zayd likewise reported it from Ayub.
The Hafiz said in the introduction to Fath al-Bari, page 377, after mentioning Daraqutni's statement, "I say, its wording indicates that it comes through the narration of Ikrima from Ayesha, for its wording is, from Ikrima, that Rifa divorced his wife, and Abdul-Rahman bin Zubayr Qurazi then married her. Ayesha said, while wearing a green veil, and then he mentioned it. This is clearly evident in that regard. However, most of the wording appears to be in the form of an incomplete chain, and Bukhari only intended by it to mention the green garments. As for the original story of Rifa and his wife, it is recorded by Bukhari in the chapter on marriage, in its proper place, through the route of Zuhri from Urwa from Ayesha. And Allah knows best."
I say, the hadith is mursal as Daraqutni says. Ikrima did not say, "Ayesha told me," so it is possible that she told him, and it is possible that it reached him from her. Allah knows best.
