The wife of Rifa Qurazi came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was sitting there, and Abu Bakr was with him. She said, "Messenger of Allah, I was married to Rifa, and he divorced me, making my divorce final. After him, I married Abdul-Rahman bin Zubayr, but by Allah, Messenger of Allah, all he has is like this fringe," and she took hold of a fringe of her garment.Khalid bin Saeed heard what she said while he was at the door, not having been granted permission to enter. She said that Khalid called out, "Abu Bakr, will you not stop this woman from speaking so openly before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" But by Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did no more than smile.Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Perhaps you wish to return to Rifa? No, not until he tastes your sweetness and you taste his."And so it became established practice thereafter.
حدثنا أبو اليمان أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري أخبرني عروة بن الزبير أن
جاءت امرأة رفاعة القرظي رسول الله ﷺ وأنا جالسة وعنده أبو بكر فقالت يا رسول الله إني كنت تحت رفاعة فطلقني فبت طلاقي فتزوجت بعده عبد الرحمن بن الزبير وإنه والله ما معه يا رسول الله إلا مثل هذه الهدبة وأخذت هدبة من جلبابها فسمع خالد بن سعيد قولها وهو بالباب لم يؤذن له قالت فقال خالد يا أبا بكر ألا تنهى هذه عما تجهر به عند رسول الله ﷺ فلا والله ما يزيد رسول الله ﷺ على التبسم فقال لها رسول الله ﷺ لعلك تريدين أن ترجعي إلى رفاعة لا حتى يذوق عسيلتك وتذوقي عسيلته فصار سنة بعد
