The Prophet ﷺ was bewitched, to the point that he would imagine he had done something when he had not. Then one day, while he was with me, he called upon Allah and called upon Him again, then said, "Did you realize, Ayesha, that Allah has answered me concerning the matter I asked Him about?"I said, "What is that, Messenger of Allah?"He said, "Two men came to me. One sat by my head and the other by my feet. Then one said to his companion, 'What is the man's ailment?'The other replied, 'He has been bewitched.'He asked, 'Who bewitched him?'He answered, 'Labid bin al-Asam, the Jew from Banu Zurayq.'He asked, 'With what?'He said, 'With a comb, hair from a comb, and the sheath of a male date palm.'He asked, 'Where is it?'He answered, 'In the well of Dhu Arwan.'"So the Prophet ﷺ went with some of his companions to the well and looked at it. There were date palms around it. Then he returned to Ayesha and said, "By Allah, it was as if its water were steeped with henna, and as if its palm trees were the heads of devils."I said, "Messenger of Allah, did you take it out?"He said, "No. As for me, Allah has granted me well-being and healed me, and I feared stirring up evil among the people because of it." Then he ordered that the well be buried, and it was buried.
