The Prophet ﷺ used to recite the Muawwidhat over himself, blowing gently, during the illness in which he died. When his illness grew severe, I would recite them and blow over him, then wipe him with his own hand because of its blessing.I asked Zuhri how he would blow, and he said, "He would blow into his hands, then wipe his face with them."
حدثني إبراهيم بن موسى أخبرنا هشام عن معمر عن الزهري عن عروة
أن النبي ﷺ كان ينفث على نفسه في المرض الذي مات فيه بالمعوذات فلما ثقل كنت أنفث عليه بهن وأمسح بيد نفسه لبركتها فسألت الزهري كيف ينفث قال كان ينفث على يديه ثم يمسح بهما وجهه
