Hajjaj arrived, so we asked Jabir bin Abdullah about the prayer times. He said, "The Prophet ﷺ used to pray Zuhr at midday when the sun was at its peak, Asr while the sun was still bright and clear, Maghrib when the sun had set, and Isha at varying times. Sometimes, when he saw the people had gathered, he would pray it early, and when he saw them delaying, he would postpone it. As for Fajr, they used to pray it," or he said, "the Prophet ﷺ used to pray it in the darkness before dawn."
