As for the sacrificial meat, we used to salt it and bring it to the Prophet ﷺ in Madinah. He said, "Do not eat from it for more than three days." This was not a binding command, but he wanted that others be fed from it. And Allah knows best.

الضحية كنا نملح منه فنقدم به إلى النبي ﷺ بالمدينة فقال لا تأكلوا إلا ثلاثة أيام وليست بعزيمة ولكن أراد أن يطعم منه والله أعلم
