The Prophet ﷺ said, "Time has come full circle to the form it had on the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months, of which four are sacred. Three are consecutive, Dhul-Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah, and Muharram, and Rajab of Mudar, which falls between Jumada and Shaban."He then asked, "What month is this?"We replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He remained silent until we thought he would give it a name other than its own. Then he said, "Is it not Dhul-Hijjah?"We said, "Yes."He asked, "What land is this?"We replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He remained silent until we thought he would give it a name other than its own. Then he said, "Is it not the Sacred Town?"We said, "Yes."He asked, "What day is this?"We replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best."He remained silent until we thought he would give it a name other than its own. Then he said, "Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?"We said, "Yes."He said, "Your blood and your wealth," Muhammad said, "and I think he also said, 'and your honor,'" "are sacred to you, as sacred as this day of yours, in this land of yours, in this month of yours. You will meet your Lord, and He will question you about your deeds. Beware, do not return to misguidance after me, striking the necks of one another. Beware, let the one present convey to the one absent, for perhaps some to whom it is conveyed will retain it better than some who heard it directly."Whenever Muhammad mentioned this, he would say, "The Prophet ﷺ spoke the truth." Then he would say, "Have I not conveyed? Have I not conveyed?" twice.
حدثنا محمد بن سلام حدثنا عبد الوهاب حدثنا أيوب عن محمد عن ابن أبي بكرة
عن النبي ﷺ قال إن الزمان قد استدار كهيئته يوم خلق الله السموات والأرض السنة اثنا عشر شهرا منها أربعة حرم ثلاث متواليات ذو القعدة وذو الحجة والمحرم ورجب مضر الذي بين جمادى وشعبان أي شهر هذا قلنا الله ورسوله أعلم فسكت حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه بغير اسمه قال أليس ذا الحجة قلنا بلى قال أي بلد هذا قلنا الله ورسوله أعلم فسكت حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه بغير اسمه قال أليس البلدة قلنا بلى قال فأي يوم هذا قلنا الله ورسوله أعلم فسكت حتى ظننا أنه سيسميه بغير اسمه قال أليس يوم النحر قلنا بلى قال فإن دماءكم وأموالكم قال محمد وأحسبه قال وأعراضكم عليكم حرام كحرمة يومكم هذا في بلدكم هذا في شهركم هذا وستلقون ربكم فيسألكم عن أعمالكم ألا فلا ترجعوا بعدي ضلالا يضرب بعضكم رقاب بعض ألا ليبلغ الشاهد الغائب فلعل بعض من يبلغه أن يكون أوعى له من بعض من سمعه وكان محمد إذا ذكره قال صدق النبي ﷺ ثم قال ألا هل بلغت ألا هل بلغت مرتين
