Rafi bin Khadij reported,

I said to the Prophet ﷺ, "Tomorrow we will meet the enemy, and we have no knives with us."He replied, "Whatever causes the blood to flow, and over which the name of Allah has been mentioned, you may eat, so long as it is not a tooth or a nail. I will tell you why. As for the tooth, it is a bone, and as for the nail, it is the knife of the Abyssinians."The swift among the people went ahead and obtained some of the spoils, while the Prophet ﷺ was at the rear of the people. They set up cooking pots, but he ordered that they be overturned. Then he distributed the spoils among them, equating one camel to ten sheep. Then a camel bolted from the front of the group, and they had no horses with them. A man shot it with an arrow, and Allah halted it. He said, "These beasts have wild instincts like the instincts of wild animals. So whichever of them does this, treat it in the same way."
