Hisham reported from Muhammad from Anas, and from Sinan Abu Rabia from Anas, that Umm Sulaym, his mother, took a mudd of barley, ground it coarsely, and made from it a dish called khatifa. She then squeezed out a small skin of clarified butter she had and sent me to the Prophet ﷺ.I came to him while he was sitting with his companions and invited him.He asked, "And who is with me?"So I came back and said, "He is asking, 'And who is with me?'"Abu Talha went out to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, it is only something Umm Sulaym has prepared."So he came in, and the food was brought.He said, "Let ten men come in to me."They came in and ate until they were satisfied.Then he said, "Let ten more come in to me."They came in and ate until they were satisfied.Then he said, "Let ten more come in to me," until he had counted forty.Then the Prophet ﷺ himself ate, then stood up. I kept looking to see if any of it had decreased.
حدثنا الصلت بن محمد حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن الجعد أبي عثمان
ح وعن هشام عن محمد عن أنس وعن سنان أبي ربيعة عن أنس أن أم سليم أمه عمدت إلى مد من شعير جشته وجعلت منه خطيفة وعصرت عكة عندها ثم بعثتني إلى النبي ﷺ فأتيته وهو في أصحابه فدعوته قال ومن معي فجئت فقلت إنه يقول ومن معي فخرج إليه أبو طلحة قال يا رسول الله إنما هو شيء صنعته أم سليم فدخل فجيء به وقال أدخل علي عشرة فدخلوا فأكلوا حتى شبعوا ثم قال أدخل علي عشرة فدخلوا فأكلوا حتى شبعوا ثم قال أدخل علي عشرة حتى عد أربعين ثم أكل النبي ﷺ ثم قام فجعلت أنظر هل نقص منها شيء
