Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

Khalid bin Walid, the one called the Sword of Allah, reported that he entered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon Maymunah, who was his maternal aunt and the maternal aunt of Ibn Abbas. They found with her a roasted lizard that her sister Hufaydah bint Harith had brought from Najd. She presented the lizard to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who rarely extended his hand to any food until he was told what it was and it was named for him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ reached out his hand toward the lizard, but one of the women present said, "Tell the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what you have presented to him. It is a lizard, Messenger of Allah."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ withdrew his hand from the lizard.Khalid bin Walid asked, "Is the lizard forbidden, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "No, but it is not found in the land of my people, and I find myself disinclined toward it."Khalid said, "So I drew it toward myself and ate it while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ watched me."
