Three legal precedents were established through the case of Barirah. The first was that when she was freed, she was given the choice regarding her husband. The second was when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The right of patronage belongs to the one who freed the slave."The third occurred when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered while a pot was bubbling with meat. Bread was brought to him along with some condiments from the house's provisions. He asked, "Did I not see a pot containing meat?"They replied, "Yes, but that is meat given in charity to Barirah, and you do not eat from charity."He said, "For her it is charity, but for us it is a gift."
