Anas bin Malik reported,

He passed by us in the mosque of Banu Rifa, and I heard him say that whenever the Prophet ﷺ passed by the dwellings of Umm Sulaym, he would enter and greet her. Then he said, the Prophet ﷺ was a bridegroom with Zaynab, and Umm Sulaym said to me, "Why don't we send a gift to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"I said to her, "Go ahead."So she took some dates, clarified butter, and dried curd, and made a hays dish in a pot, then sent it with me to him. I brought it to him, and he said to me, "Set it down."Then he instructed me, saying, "Call for me Some men," whom he named, "and call whomever you meet."I did as he commanded, and when I returned, the house was packed with people. I saw the Prophet ﷺ place his hands on that hays and speak over it whatever Allah willed. Then he began calling them in groups of ten to eat from it, telling them, "Mention the name of Allah, and let each man eat from what is in front of him."They continued until all of them had dispersed from it. Some of them left, while a small group remained behind chatting. I began to feel uneasy. Then the Prophet ﷺ went out toward the chambers, and I followed him, saying, "They have left."So he returned and entered the house and let down the curtain, while I was in the chamber, and he was reciting, "Believers, do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless permission is granted you for a meal, without waiting for it to be prepared. But when you are invited, enter, and when you have eaten, disperse without lingering for conversation. That used to trouble the Prophet, and he was shy of you, but Allah is not shy of the truth" [Ahzab 33:53].Abu Uthman said, Anas said that he served the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for ten years.

وقال إبراهيم عن أبي عثمان واسمه الجعد

عن أنس بن مالك، قال

مر بنا في مسجد بني رفاعة فسمعته يقول كان النبي ﷺ إذا مر بجنبات أم سليم دخل عليها فسلم عليها، ثم قال كان النبي ﷺ عروسا بزينب فقالت لي أم سليم لو أهدينا لرسول الله ﷺ هدية فقلت لها افعلي. فعمدت إلى تمر وسمن وأقط، فاتخذت حيسة في برمة، فأرسلت بها معي إليه، فانطلقت بها إليه فقال لي ضعها. ثم أمرني فقال ادع لي رجالا سماهم وادع لي من لقيت. قال ففعلت الذي أمرني فرجعت فإذا البيت غاص بأهله، فرأيت النبي ﷺ وضع يديه على تلك الحيسة، وتكلم بها ما شاء الله، ثم جعل يدعو عشرة عشرة، يأكلون منه، ويقول لهم اذكروا اسم الله، وليأكل كل رجل مما يليه. قال حتى تصدعوا كلهم عنها، فخرج منهم من خرج، وبقي نفر يتحدثون قال وجعلت أغتم، ثم خرج النبي ﷺ نحو الحجرات، وخرجت في إثره فقلت إنهم قد ذهبوا. فرجع فدخل البيت، وأرخى الستر، وإني لفي الحجرة، وهو يقول {يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تدخلوا بيوت النبي إلا أن يؤذن لكم إلى طعام غير ناظرين إناه ولكن إذا دعيتم فادخلوا فإذا طعمتم فانتشروا ولا مستأنسين لحديث إن ذلكم كان يؤذي النبي فيستحيي منكم والله لا يستحيي من الحق}. قال أبو عثمان قال أنس إنه خدم رسول الله ﷺ عشر سنين.
