I was among the people sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a woman stood up and said, "Messenger of Allah, she has offered herself to you, so consider what you think of her."He gave her no answer.Then she stood up again and said, "Messenger of Allah, she has offered herself to you, so consider what you think of her."He gave her no answer.Then she stood up a third time and said, "She has offered herself to you, so consider what you think of her."A man rose and said, "Messenger of Allah, marry her to me."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you have anything?"He replied, "No."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Go and find something, even an iron ring."So he went and searched, then returned and said, "I have found nothing, not even an iron ring."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you have any of the Quran memorized?"He answered, "I know such-and-such surah and such-and-such surah."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Go, for I have married her to you for what you have of the Quran."
حدثنا علي بن عبد الله حدثنا سفيان سمعت أبا حازم يقول سمعت
إني لفي القوم عند رسول الله ﷺ إذ قامت امرأة فقالت يا رسول الله إنها قد وهبت نفسها لك فر فيها رأيك فلم يجبها شيئا ثم قامت فقالت يا رسول الله إنها قد وهبت نفسها لك فر فيها رأيك فلم يجبها شيئا ثم قامت الثالثة فقالت إنها قد وهبت نفسها لك فر فيها رأيك فقام رجل فقال يا رسول الله أنكحنيها قال هل عندك من شيء قال لا قال اذهب فاطلب ولو خاتما من حديد فذهب فطلب ثم جاء فقال ما وجدت شيئا ولا خاتما من حديد فقال هل معك من القرآن شيء قال معي سورة كذا وسورة كذا قال اذهب فقد أنكحتكها بما معك من القرآن
