I asked Ubayy bin Kaab about the two surahs of refuge, and he said, "I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about them, and he said, 'It was said to me, so I said it.'" So we say as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said.
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد حدثنا سفيان عن عاصم وعبدة
سألت أبي بن كعب عن المعوذتين فقال سألت رسول الله ﷺ فقال قيل لي فقلت فنحن نقول كما قال رسول الله ﷺ
