Ali bin Abu Talib reported,

The Prophet ﷺ was at a funeral when he picked up something and began scratching the ground with it. He said, "There is not one of you whose place in the Fire and whose place in Paradise has not already been written."The companions asked, "Messenger of Allah, should we not then rely on what is written for us and abandon striving?"He replied, "Keep working, for everyone is made easy toward that for which he was created. As for the one who is among the people of happiness, he will be made easy toward the deeds of the people of happiness. And as for the one who is among the people of wretchedness, he will be made easy toward the deeds of the people of wretchedness."Then he recited, "As for the one who gives and is mindful of Allah, and believes in the best reward..." [Layl 92:5–6].
